Don Bosco Missions - East Africa

Journeying with the young; Supporting Salesian Missionaries in East Africa

  • Sponsor a street child
    Sponsor a street child

Thousands (if not millions!) children in Kenya live in the slum, in the setting with less thatn 1$ to spend per day. They often end up on the street, which gives them only way of survival. Bosco Boys gives them new opportunity.
This is where you come in. For less than one dollar a day ($30 monthly, $360 annually), you too can support a child in his quest for education. This monthly pledge will help a child go to school, receive necessary medical treatment, and be a part of activities that will give him/her an opportunity to have a future. You will be sent a photo and bio about the child you are sponsoring. As a sponsor you will be able to communicate with the child through our organization. The length of the sponsorship is yearly, but maybe discontinued at the donor's request at any time.

They were shooting, almost hit Father David, but protection of Mother Mary nobody was hurt. Thanks be to God! They stole though everything that was of any value, so we are all called to help them in any possible way.

EMBU

In Don Bosco Embu there is Secondary Technical school, where Education and Training is offered to the Young People especially the marginalized. Students of Don Bosco Embu are among the best in the country, and that is shown at yearly national exams KCSE.

A student knows that if he enrols into Don Bosco Embu secondary technical school, he will have to work hard and reach highest marks, because the educators there believe in capabilities of each student and they are able to make them express their potentials. Not only in academics, but one profits also in technical skills.

In Don Bosco Embu is still the only Secondary Technical School, where every student not only gets advanced academic knowledge but is also equipped for the future with skills, in several departments:
  • motor vehicle mechanics,
  • masonry,
  • carpentry,
  • electrical,
  • welding,
  • jointer and
  • computer.
  • In the future they hope to offer also more specified skills in the solar-power systems and also electronics, in order for students to be able to offer services in always progressive technologies.
Farm:
The farm is really a living system where now you can find bigger home for pigs, which are weekly growing in numbers; rabbits, cows, chicken and fish are daily on the menu of students. Beans, maize and other vegetables from their farm, cooked in recently renovated kitchen, makes students daily satisfied and happy so that they always have energy for busy days. Not to mention their fantastic cheese! Brother Umberto made Don Bosco Embu famous with big flat white balls of milky delicacy. And the days are truly busy. If you spend a day in Don Bosco Embu, you can always see students busy.

When the bell rings, they run to the next activity, no need to be told to. Not only during school time but also in extracurricular activities (music, sport, clubs, spirituality...), which have helped students to develop their talents, and values like responsibility, hard-work, faith and many other. Students adopt that life-style by following their school-mates and especially by following the good example of their educators (salesians and teachers) and their tireless guidance and leadership 24 hours a day.

MVM lesson

In the future they hope to put up new classrooms which are more than just needed, especially after the enlarging the intake. Depending on donations only, that will be a big challenge. With help of Belgian co-operators they already started the project of building sanitation block which will be used by numerous guests on numerous events (competitions, staff meetings...). In the future plans is also extension of administration block... These are only few views into the future, but they are many more in the dreams of present salesians who live to build the future of poor youngsters.
